I have selected Frank Darabont to be the Executive producer and writer for this series because of his ability to take a an illustrated story such as Robert Kirkman’s comic book, The Walking Dead, plus texts from story books such as The Sawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, and adapt them into renowned award winning productions.
Franks role on AMC’s as Executive producer and series creator / writer on The Walking Dead seasons 1 and 2 is what initially bought the famed series its recognition, because of franks vested interested to be actively involved, not only with the writing and adaptation process, but also with the production and post production, making sure that the integrity of the series was fully kept, free from any network influence. At times if he was not happy with certain shots, he would even go out and do pickups just to make sure the shot is perfect. However, because of Franks passion for making sure the series was visually perfect, often gained him scrutinisation from AMC about the budget, due to AMC wanting to milk the cow dry without properly feeding it, and during the second season The Walking Dead was impacted upon by a post-season budget cut; going from the original budget of $3.4m per episode to $3m despite the show’s massive success, preventing Frank from continuing the creative formulae used in season 1. Unfortunately, during season 2 Frank was sacked from TWD, primarily over AMC’s concerns with the budget even though the show was a success, for them not only wanting the same results on a more restricted budget, but also for AMC pocketing the tax credit, which was a further blow and insult to injury to flame their argument over the budget cuts, as the 25% tax credit kept could of contributed towards the production of the series.
Having left the series, even though it is still running, ratings have not been the same and production has been stripped more as a result of the original series creator, Frank, no longer involved being involved in the series. He is only credited as the series creator of the adapted comic book.
People have said that if Frank had taken TWD and producer it on HBO, it would have been more of a success because the network is known to spend a lot on their production quality of big sets and locations, especially if the series is a success, because having prior successful shows which had big budgets, they know that maintaining the same quality will retain the same high level of ratings, resulting in the network being compensated even more.

So for these reason, this is why i have decided to choose Frank Darabont as the series creator / writer and executive producer for the adaptation of GANGSTA, working with Kosuke to help develop the story into a television series.
