Because my film is about a school kid getting bullied by other school kids, my actors are going to be dressed in a universal secondary school uniform attire. My actors are going to be wearing their own clothes, which is going to mainly consist of a black pair of trousers and a plain white shirt.

To symbolise that my actors are school kids and represent that they're all part of the same school, i've purchased some blue and white striped ties that they're all going to wear; which will help the audience understand whom they are before they get any ambiguous thoughts.

However, on top of that attire, i'm having two separate individual dress styles, one for the Protagonist and another for the Antagonists to represent the difference in type of personalities i.e. Good kid dressed in correct school uniform, bad kid dressed in incorrect school uniform.

Because the antagonist Shaun and his gang are 'yobs' i've decided to give them a kind of rebellious teenaged school uniform attire; what would represent to the audience that they're naughty/bad people. For example:

  • No school shoes but wearing trainers
  • Wearing hats
  • Smoking cigarettes
  • Open shirt colar
  • No school bag ,or, carrying an inconvenient bag not intended for school use i.e. pouch
  • Not wearing school tie but holding it in their hand
  • Trendy Hooded clothing over blazer
  • Shirt not tucked in

Here are some examples of the attire that i'm going for to help connote the stereotypical bad school youth, who's uniform attire is a rebellion to the traditional school attire.

Because the protagonists Phillip is a normal school kid, his school attire is going to be correct, for example:

  • Shirt colar buttoned up
  • Wearing school blazer
  • Wearing correct school shoes
  • Wearing school bag intended for school use
Here are some examples of the attire i'm looking for to help connote the stereotype of the well behaved, proper dressed, representable 'white-collar' school kid.

Conclusion

Even tho i had an idea of how i wanted my actors to be clothed, i feel as tho my research into realism, because of the Critical Perspectives: Moving Image lessons, has helped me to further look into in detail and take careful consideration as to the choice of clothing i select for my actors, as i'm trying to represent the aesthetics of realism within the culture that my short film is trying to portray.
