After finishing up filming at Minster Gym, getting the footage of the Photoscape, plus the sequences of Oli doing up his wraps and boots, i arranged with Oli to film some reflection sequences overlooking Sheerness at the Glenn park, which wouldn’t involve him doing any action / erratic movement.
Having being told about the location before hand, Oli mentioned that the Glen was one of the highest locations throughout Sheerness which people can freely access. Having read up about Golden hour prior, i thought that i’d get some reflection shots of Oli over looking Sheerness whilst the sun is at hits mid point before it goes down, as this would be used to finish the film on, as Oli reflects back over his life journey thus far.
So that i could figure out when Golden hour was, and how long we had to film during the hour, i used an app that i had downloaded called Exsate golden hour.
This app told me not only the how long golden hour lasts for, but also the direction that the sun is coming from at the exact geographical location where i'm situated.
The equipment that i brought along with me to shoot with was:
Tripod - for a stable shot
Reflector - to act as a fill light for Oli’s face
24-105mm f4 - so that i had the option of zooming in, plus cropping in further with the crop mode feature
ND Filter - As it’s outside and bright, i brought the ND filter so i could stop down the light whilst using a shallow DOF on the close up shots
Rhode videomic pro - With the gain turned down, this was used to get the atmospheric background of the birds chirping and the wind breezing
